
Thomas G. Schmitzer, Sr. is a partner in the firm, having practiced here since his graduation from Hamline University School of Law in 1996. Attorney Schmitzer received his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1993 and is also a graduate of Catholic Memorial High School in Waukesha. He has litigated civil and criminal cases in both state and federal courts and has handled numerous appellate matters before the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.
Practice Areas:
Attorney Schmitzer’s practice concentrates on real estate transactions and development; zoning and land use matters before municipal government; business and corporate law; and estate planning. He also practices in the areas of business litigation and trust disputes. Attorney Schmitzer was the Prosecuting Attorney for the City of New Berlin for over twenty-six years and became the New Berlin City Attorney in 2025.

Attorney Schmitzer is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin. He is a member of the Waukesha County Bar Association and is a past President of the County Bar’s Bench/Bar Committee.
Volunteer Service:
Attorney Schmitzer is an active member of the community, having served on the Board of Directors of The Caring Place, Inc. and the Friends of the Caring Place, Inc. He has served as President of each of those organizations. He also served as past Chairman of the City of Waukesha Ethics Committee. He currently serves on the Facilities Committee for Catholic Memorial High School.
Personal:
Attorney Schmitzer and his wife, Sheilah, are the proud parents of four children. He enjoys exercise, fishing, gardening, music, and cooking.
